On July 16-22, 2018, Dalian Maritime University and Bahria University jointly organized the "International Maritime Law Summer School". Professor Zhang Pengfei from DMU Law School was invited to the Islamic, capital of Pakistan, for a five-day program.

This program is the first training program between DMU and Bahria University. More than 50 people from Pakistani universities, government agencies, law firms, banking, insurance and shipping industries attended. Professor Zhang Pengfei's lectures covered international trade and logistics, British maritime law, contract of carriage of goods by sea, contract of ship construction, practice of shipping broker and ship agency, etc. After the course, Professor Zhang Pengfei signed and awarded the certificate of completion for the summer class on behalf of the co-organizer -Dalian Maritime University.

During the summer school, Prof. Zhang Pengfei was also invited to participate in the International Maritime Education and Research Seminar organized by the Bahria University (on Karachi Campus), which attracted more than 700 participants including international maritime education experts, Pakistani government officials, international NGO staff and shipping industry professionals. Professor Zhang Pengfei made a speech at the conference on “Belt and Road Initiative and China Pakistan Economic Corridor: Geo-Economic Dimensions and Scope of Maritime Education in Coming years - 2030 Timeline” as the theme and introduced the development status of China's maritime education. He pointed out that China and Pakistan have great potential in international maritime education cooperation under the background of the Belt and Road, and put forward specific implementation paths. The speech inspired the great interest of the participants and sparked heated discussions.

Bahria University is a public research university established by the Pakistan Navy in 2000 to provide undergraduate, master and doctoral education, the principal seat of which is at Islamabad and campuses are at Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore. It is now a highly respected research university in Pakistan, which is semi-official and provides decision-making support to the Pakistani government. In the future, more international cooperation will be carried out between the two universities.
