About the speaker：

Dr Shengnan Jia received a full scholarship and was awarded the degree of PhD in Commercial Maritime Law by City, University of London. She, as a graduate teaching assistant, has taught English contract law, English land law at City, University of London since 2014. Being a visiting lecturer, she has taught commercial law at Middlesex University, London since 2017 and Chinese maritime law and transport law at Inter-University Center Dubrovnik, Croatia since this year. In addition, she has been appointed to the part-time tutor in commercial and maritime law at School of Juris Master, China University of Political Science and Law in November 2020.

Apart from the academic career, she is also a partner in Tahota Law Firm, China (2020 Global 100/The American Lawyer and The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2020) and has served as a lawyer and partner in Beijing, specializing in commercial and maritime cases. During her practice, she has been involved in some important and complex litigation cases in the Supreme Court of P.R. of China. As an expert witness, she has been invited by international law firms to submit the expert witness opinion on Chinese commercial law in London.

She is a Co-Founding Director of China-Europe Commercial Collaboration Association (CECCA), a supporting member of London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA), UK, an arbitrator of Caspian Arbitration Society (CAS), Geneva, an arbitrator of Hainan International Arbitration Court, China and an expert lawyer in international commercial law nominated by Beijing Lawyer’s Association.

About the chair:

Dr Lijun Zhao is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor equivalent) at Middlesex University. Also, she is Director of Global Law and Policy Working Group across London, Dubai, and Mauritius. Her expertise lies in commercial and financial law. She also teaches English contract law, English and European legal systems, and commercial law. She has published extensively on various areas of corporate and commercial law.

Dr Zhao holds visiting professorship at several institutes, including Max Planck Institute, Harvard Law School, Bologna University, Koln University, and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). Besides, Dr Zhao is co-Founding Director of the China-Europe Commercial Collaboration Association and a member of several professional bodies, such as London Maritime Arbitrators Association.

Since September 2018, she has participated in the work of International Maritime Committee’s Working Group on maritime law as a Member of the CMI Experts Group and contributed to the drafting of an instrument on the restatement of General maritime law.

贾圣囡，中国社会科学院研究生院民商法硕士；瑞典隆德大学、马尔默世界海事大学海商法硕士；英国伦敦大学城市学院全额奖学金获得者，博士、助教，主要讲授英国合同法与英国土地法；中国政法大学法律硕士学院兼职导师；英国米德赛斯大学商法、海商法客座讲师；克罗地亚杜布罗夫尼国际大学中心中国海商法、运输法客座讲师。

在法律实务方面，贾圣囡博士为泰和泰（北京）律师事务所合伙人，曾受邀作为中国商事专家证人向伦敦国际仲裁院（LCIA）出具专家报告。其在最高人民法院和各地高级人民法院代理过多起商事案件，如代理的资产管理公司不良资产处置、商业银行承兑汇票、存单纠纷、借款担保合同案件等都作为经典案例被收录进最高院公报案例、民商法经典案例书籍。

此外，贾圣囡博士亦为中欧商事合作协会创办人、海南国际仲裁院仲裁员、瑞士 Caspian Arbitration Society （CAS）仲裁员, 伦敦海事仲裁委员会（LMAA）会员，北京市律师协会国际商事专家库入库律师。

赵丽君，法学博士，英国密德萨斯大学全球法律与政策研究中心主任、博士研究生导师，英国高等教育学院研究员，德国马普所客座教授，英国斯旺西大学外聘教授，牛津布鲁克斯大学的外聘教授，中欧商事合作协会联合创始人，伦敦仲裁员协会外聘教授、伦敦海事仲裁协会支持会员、《国际商法评论》主编 (Journal of Transnational Commercial Law, ISSN：2631-7516）。主讲课程包括：英国合同法、英国与欧盟法律制度、商法、公司法、仲裁等。主要研究方向为商法、国际贸易法、英国法、欧美航运法、国际海事条约等。自2018年9月起至今，加入CMI国际海事委员会海事法专家工作组。
