About the speaker

Prof. Kim Hyun Soo is currently Professor Emeritus of Inha University School of Law, Member of the International Law of the Sea Committee of the Korea Maritime Police Agency, Member of the External Advisory Expert of the Consultative Strategy Group for the Ocean Crisis of the Korea Maritime Police Agency, Policy Advisory Member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, and Director of the Korea International Maritime Studies Institute. He has served as a Policy Advisory Member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea, a Policy Advisory Member of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of Korea, the Chairman of the International Law of the Sea Committee of the Korea Maritime Police, a Legal Research Officer of the Ministry of National Defense of Korea for International Relations, the President of the Korea Waterways Association, a Professor of the Law Faculty (International Law, Law of the Sea) at Inha University of Korea, the Korean Representative to the United Nations Conference on Oceans, and the Korean Representative to the Regional Fisheries Management Organization (RFMO). He has published nearly 100 high-level papers in English SSCI and Korean KCI journals, more than 20 academic monographs, and has chaired more than 30 national projects.
