The DMU Jessup Moot Court Team is looking to recruit for their Jessup2024 Team members. The ideal candidates will:

·have a good command of English (written and oral)

·be willing to devote a lot of time and effort between September 2023 to March 2024

·be interested in developing lawyering skills beyond an academic setting

·have a strong sense of responsibility and team spirit.

赛事介绍

杰赛普国际法模拟法庭大赛（Philip C.Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition），是由“美国国际法学生联合会”（International Law Students Association，ILSA）主办的专业性法律辩论赛。该竞赛被誉为国际法学界的奥林匹克竞赛，是全球历史最悠久、规模最大、难度最高的模拟法庭赛事之一。自1959年举办以来，每年有100多个国家的900余所大学参赛，争夺前往华盛顿参加全球总决赛的名额，是各国法学教育水平的集中展示。该比赛采用海牙国际法院（International Court of Justice）的诉讼模式，要求参赛队以英文为语言，基于相关国际法理论和规则，充分研究案例（Compromis），代表原告国和被告国写作书状（Memorial），并进行口头答辩（Oral Presentation）。

杰赛普大连海事大学代表队成立于2004年，多次参与该赛事，拥有丰富的参赛经验，曾斩获Jessup2023全国三等奖、Jessup2022全国二等奖、Jessup2021全国三等奖等佳绩。在数年的成长中，代表队也拥有丰富的校友资源，往届优秀队员中不乏前往中国政法大学、华东政法大学、新加坡国立大学等高校进行深造的同学。

Jessup is the world’s largest moot court competition, with participants from roughly 900 law schools in 100 countries and jurisdictions. The Competition is a simulation of a fictional dispute between countries before the International Court of Justice, the judicial organ of the United Nations. The Philip C.Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is an advocacy competition for law students.

Teams of law schools compete against each other through the presentation of oral and written pleadings to address timely issues concerning the public international law in the context of a hypothetical legal dispute between nations.

The DMU Jessup team has won many honors in the Competition. There also have a great number of previous members of Jessup team obtaining great opportunities for further education. Participants will gain the knowledge and practical experiences of writing legal pleadings and presenting them before a panel of international judges.

(一) 在写作中打磨法律技能

书状的写作需要以队员们大量的法律检索为基础，检索的内容包括学者观点、国际案例、国际条约等，因此，队员们的英文检索能力能够得到充分的提升。同时在教练的指导下，队员们也将提升和掌握法律文书的写作技巧。

(二) 在表达中训练临场反应

除了书状写作，法庭答辩也是非常重要的环节。队员们需要站在所代表国家的立场，向法官表达我方诉求，对相对国代表的诉求作出回应。队员们在法庭上与法官沟通交流，在赛场上与对手互相切磋，在输出我方观点中不断锻炼英语口语表达能力，在回答法官问题中不断磨炼临场反应能力。在一场场的比赛中，抗压能力和表达能力得到双重提升。

(三) 在研究中开拓国际视野

杰赛普的赛题选择结合国际时事热点，聚焦国际公法领域热点问题。在备赛期间，队员们不断探索国际法争议问题，丰富国际法知识，拓宽国际视野，进一步认识国际法。比赛过程中，队员们能够与国内外名校的学生同台竞技，在一次次的相遇中，了解自我，打磨自我，挑战自我。与此同时，参加杰赛普的经历也将为队员的个人简历增光添彩，成为大学生活中难忘的回忆。

(四) 在协作中收获团队友谊

杰赛普需要的不是一个人的单打独斗，而是一群人的并肩作战。无论是线下讨论，亦或是线上交流，都是一个队伍共同努力往一个目标前进。队员们在备赛过程中，互相鼓励，互相支撑，所有人的心血共同凝结成最后的结果。我们不仅找到了团队协作的方法，也成为了彼此最默契的拍档，收获了同甘共苦的友情。
