From October 30 to 31, “China Insurance Law Research Association 2015 Annual Conference and Both-sides’ Insurance Law Seminar” was grandly held in Shanghai. It was hosted by China Insurance Law Research Association and organized by KoGuan Law School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Over 270 participants including insurance law experts and practitioners from both sides of the straits attended the conference. The conference was themed at “New Development of Insurance Law under ‘the State Coucil’s No. 10 National Notice’”, and the participants communicated and discussed in-depth about the difficulties in the process of insurance legislation, practice and supervision.
Professor Chu Beiping, Dean of Law School and Standing Director of China Insurance Law Research Association, together with Dr. Xue Tianci, Dr. Xie Chen and Dr. Wang Wei, attended the conference. Dean Chu presided over the issue unit “The Modernization Problems of Insurance Supervision System”, and interacted with the participants interacted on the supervision of exit of insurer, mutual insurance and internet insurance, etc.
What merited our special concern was that China Law Society 30th Legislation Expert Consultation 2015 -- “Insurance Law(Draft)” Expert Seminar was set in the conference, and this was the first time that China Law Society had held Legislation Expert Consultation relying on the convening of Annual Conference of Research Association. Professor Chu was invited to attend the Legislation Expert Consultation, and he expressed his opinions on whether legal issues of mutual insurance should be brought into Insurance Law, on whether mutual insurance organization should be subject to insurance supervision and on other hot topics.
This conference was a complete success. China Insurance Law Research Association confirmed that the 2016 Annual Conference and the 1st International Conference on Insurance Law would be organized jointly by DMU and Renmin University of China. Professor Chu presented that more international law experts and practitioners would be invited next year. He hoped that foreign mature insurance legislation would provide experience and reference to perfect Chinese insurance legislation and promote the development of Chinese insurance industry.
