Prof. CHU Beiping is a professor and doctoral supervisor of Law School of Dalian Maritime University (DMU), whose lecture is mainly on marine insurance law, international maritime arbitration, ship collision law, shipping law.
Prof. Chu is now the Dean of DMU Law School, Deputy Secretary General and Executive Director of China Insurance Law Association, Director of Institute of Marine Insurance Law of DMU, Supporting Member of London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA),Member of the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA),Member of China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC) Panel of Arbitrators, Member of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) Panel of Arbitrators and Member of Dalian Arbitration Commission of PRC Panel of Arbitrators.
Prof. Chu has also written eight books and published more than thirty papers on maritime law.
Chu Peiping has rich theoretical and practical experience in international maritime and trade arbitration.He has been appointed as arbitrator in London Arbitration for many timesand has signed many arbitral awards of London Arbitration.ChuBeipinghasbeen designated for many times by the parties of the international arbitrationand domestic litigationon expert legal opinions for as the arbitration tribunal.
Chu Beiping wrote the monograph “The Research of MarineInsurance Clauses”; was the chief editor of “New Essence of Maritime Regulations”, the subeditor of “Summary and Review of Chinese Marine Insurance Cases”, the compiler of “The Maritime Law”, “The Admiralty Law”, “Monographic Study on the Basic Theory of Chinese Maritime Law”, “The Rotterdam Rules” and “Draft Provisions, Reference Legislative Cases, Illustration for the Amendments of ‘The Maritime Law of the People's Republic of China’”. He has published more than 30 academic papers in the domestic well-known journals and theinternationaland domestic conferences.
As head of subjects, he took charge of the subjectofdepartment of justice“The Study of Framework Constructing of Chinese Shipping Law Regulation - in the Perspective of the Positive Interaction between Public Law and Private Law", the project of education department of Liaoning Province"The Study of Legal Issues about Liability Insurance of New Logistics under Construction of International Shipping Center in Northeast Asia”, the project of Dalian Academy Social Sciences"The Study of Legal Environment of Ship Mortgage Financing inInternational Shipping Center of Northeast Asia in Dalian”. As head of sub projects, he participated in more than 10 projects of the national social science fund, department of transport, department of justice and department of education and so on.He took charge of and completed more than 10 horizontal projects of bank, shipyards and shipping companies.
He has won the excellent award ofInternational Conference Paper on Maritime Law in 2011 among Chinese Lawyers, the second prize of excellent paper of “Law Forum in Surrounding Bohai Zone” of Law Institute of Liaoning Province in 2010, the outstanding counsel in the fourthnational transportation enterprises of the association of transportation enterprises management in 2009,the topten outstanding achievements of law of "Blue and white Porcelain Cup in Yingkou" in Liaoning Province in 2006, the third prize of "Fan Yang"excellent teachersaward in Dalian Maritime University in 2005,the excellent award of "Sinotrans" Cup of maritime law excellent paper award of China Maritime Law Association in 2003, the excellent award of excellent paper award of maritime professional committee of China Lawyers Association in 2003 and so on.
