Si Yuzhuo is the former President of Dalian Maritime University. He is the professor, doctoral supervisor of Law School of Dalian Maritime University and the member of the International Maritime Committee(IMC) Nomination Committee, adviser of Chinese Maritime Arbitration Commission, the vice chairman of China Maritime Law Association, one member of Legal Expert Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Transport. He is also a visiting professor in Aoyama Gakuin University inJapan, adviser ofmaritime law research center of Peking University, part-time professor in WuHan University, JiLin University and the University of Foreign Business and Economic and so on and the editor of Chinese Maritime Law Research.

Having engaged in the teaching and scientific research on maritime law since the 1960s. He is one of the most famous maritime law experts in our country, enjoying high reputation internationally.He established the first doctorate authorization in international law regarding maritime law in 1998 and approved to establish level law doctorate authorization in 2010 and post-doctoral research station in international law (maritime law) in 2011. He had recruited 115 maritime law postgraduates for 17 sessions (by the end of 2000), recruited 49 maritime law doctoral students for 14 sessions since 1999 (including 1 Korean, 1 Thai, 5 from Taiwan and 2 from Hong Kong) and 23 of them have graduated and got their PhDs and had recruited 2 maritime law postdoctoral.

He is one of the main drafters of “the Maritime Law of the People's Republic of China”; and often attends international academic conferences as maritime law expert. He participated in the establishment and research of “the Rotterdam Rules” in United Nations Commission on International Trade Law as the header of Chinese government delegation and expert member.

He is national prominent teacher, the national model worker on the educational front and was awarded the medal of people's teachers, enjoying the special allowance of the state government. He has more than 20 major works, including national planning teaching materials “Maritime Law” for the 10th, 11th and 12th five-year, scholarly monograph “the Monograph on Maritime Law”, “Study on the Basic Theory of Chinese Maritime Law”, “Study on ‘the Rotterdam Rules’” and so on. He has published more than 80 academic papers and has taken charge of many national and provincial and ministerial research projects. Six works and three achievements in scientific research have won national and provincial and ministerial awards.
